#Sanders missed an opportunity when going after #Biden's healthcare plan. The current system of requiring a deductible and copay is insane. The average deductible is $600. A surprisingly large number of Americans (40%) would have to go into debt to cover a $400 emergency. #DemDebate
I was happy to see Yang back. But he needs to demand some time like Steyer did with "It's the economy, stupid." Shine #Yang, shine! #DemDebate
@lashman it was great to see Bernie hit back hard on Biden's healthcare plan and continued mischaracterization of M4A. #DemDebate

Mayor Pete keeps acting like he represents change but he is the most standard neoliberal corporate centrist I've ever seen. Your age is irrelevant son. #DemDebate
Any recommendations for ambient/chill music that I can keep playing in the background during live-coding sessions on Twitch/YouTube?
I've tried a few different options that claim to offer music for just that, but Twitch always ends up muting parts of my video with copyright claims 😒
[Boosts appreciated!]
@lashman the upshot of the #IowaCaucus debacle is it was an educational experience. At what point do you think it's a good idea for a coin flip to have more voice than a voter? If the coin flip lands on the edge do the tied delegate groups do a tug-of-war?
How is that better than ranked choice voting and letting the popular vote stand? I think it's clear that caucuses, like the electoral college, are an outdated idea. One person, one vote-unless your face is minted on a quarter.
A new breed of high-tech lenders may be discriminating against college students based on the school they attend, a watchdog group says. Its experiment found an identical applicant would have to pay $3,500 more for a loan to an HBCU than for one to NYU. https://trib.al/goizyvv

Ian Bremmer projects #IowaCaucus debacle on 2020 election with warning that not knowing the winner for months could put the stock market in real turmoil.
3% growth target? I thought #Trump promised at least 4% with expectations that the US could do more. Let's not forget that while we near full employment, it isn't accounting for the underemployed or the record low work force participation.
All he's managed is tax cuts for the wealthy. Rx prices and swamp draining took backseat to golf outtings. Interestingly, evidence suggests time spent playing golf correlates with poor CEO performance.

Cool that there’s now a Debian image for the #pinephone , presumably that’ll mean we can have 95% of what’s on the Libream 5, assuming someone doesn’t port Pure OS outright
#Biden is right, IA caucuses don't mean anything about his electability. He's not a viable candidate and yet he's still on the board.
James Mark says trying to navigate a confusing system of health insurance options to offer his employees is tough. "I have no idea if it's a good [health] plan or a bad plan, in comparison to everything else."
That's why he supports "Medicare for All." https://trib.al/DLqQ9JM

@lashman Oh! #MayorCheat declared victory because he won the coin toss against Warren for a split delegate! Now it all makes sense.
An interesting survey from #APM on US #immigration. Results seem to indicate that old, white, republicans say there are too many immigrants. Interestingly, on the depends free form response (page 15), is mostly republican with "fine if legal" statements. Combined with the "too many" response this seems to highlight a racist view. The survey doesn't appear to address that refugees and asylum seekers, the focus of recent Trump policies like MPP, are legal.

Archivists have pirated more than 5,000 studies about coronaviruses and made them open access: "It's a moral imperative," they said. “A copyright on the health of humanity? Fuck off.”
When I moved in the first thing I needed at home was functioning Internet, so I decided to just run a long-ass ethernet cable through the entire hallway to see if everything's working. Of course, once that was established I would properly install the cable.
Three years later and I'm still yelling "careful, that cable!" whenever I have visitors.
Human... maybe?
