@lashman Oh! declared victory because he won the coin toss against Warren for a split delegate! Now it all makes sense.

An interesting survey from on US . Results seem to indicate that old, white, republicans say there are too many immigrants. Interestingly, on the depends free form response (page 15), is mostly republican with "fine if legal" statements. Combined with the "too many" response this seems to highlight a racist view. The survey doesn't appear to address that refugees and asylum seekers, the focus of recent Trump policies like MPP, are legal.

Archivists have pirated more than 5,000 studies about coronaviruses and made them open access: "It's a moral imperative," they said. “A copyright on the health of humanity? Fuck off.”

@lashman what's that you say? A disingenuous statement from a candidate known for disingenuous statements? Mayor Pete "if you don't respond to this email in 5 days you agree with everything thing we say and do" Buttigeig

When I moved in the first thing I needed at home was functioning Internet, so I decided to just run a long-ass ethernet cable through the entire hallway to see if everything's working. Of course, once that was established I would properly install the cable.

Three years later and I'm still yelling "careful, that cable!" whenever I have visitors.

@lashman with the IDP debacle can you believe that there are districts that want to go to paperless voting? It seems like a no brainer; no mater how the vote is taken the voter should have the opportunity the review a physical copy and that copy should be kept for verification purposes if needed.

In 2003 Belgium had a voting issue that was deemed an error due to a cosmic ray. Source:

Rolling back the protections isn't about jobs. "Mitigation banks industry directly employs more people than the coal, steel or logging industries."

The Trump administration is stripping protections for streams that run only after rain — and for wetlands that don't join bigger waterways above-ground.

A biology professor says these rollbacks ignore basic science about how water connects underground. trib.al/LJOLjcu

If I was in Iowa I would simply vote for Bernie Sanders

Saying is the "electable candidate" is the same memetic branding as "Windows for business and Mac for graphic design". It's false. The DNC already ran a neoliberal centrist against Trump; she lost because a bunch of disheartened voters didn't turn out.

Look at his record: his hand in school segregation, his leadership in tough on crime lays, supporting trade deals, pro-war, bundling the domestic abuse bill with unrelated policies.

Even if he wins, it's just back to business as usual.

To my internet friends mourning , look across the Atlantic for support. We in the US can empathize. We have a leader that lost the popular vote and has pulled out of the Paris Climate Accords, pulled out of the Iran nuclear deal, scrapped a trade agreement with neighbouring countries, and dehumanized asylum seekers.

We share your pain in this moment of racist and lizard-brain driven leadership. We're better than this, and that's why it hurts so much to watch.

In Côte d'Ivoire, capitalist exploitation causes deforestation. Cacao farmers get paid so little they become desperate, and the only way they can see to earn more so they can survive is to grow more.

Some take to destroying protected forests so they can grow more cacao to sell. But as awful as the killing of trees by burning their roots is, I can't blame these people. It's not their fault, it's the fault of a corrupt and exploitative system which doesn't give them enough money to live.

The oldest seed ever germinated was a 2000 year old Judean date palm seed, found in an archaeological site near the Dead Sea. These trees were previously extinct since the 6th century, but this one, named Methusalah (obvs), is still thriving as far as I know!
