I like how DisplayPort is secretly taking over video output on Type-C ports rather than HDMI, and nobody really notices.
Comically enough, DisplayPort over Type-C has better HDMI support than HDMI over Type-C even though it was released earlier.
DisplayPort over Type-C does DP 1.4, which can be adapted to HDMI 2.0b
But HDMI over Type-C only does HDMI 1.4b, lel

And this my friends is why every HDMI dongle for your Type-C laptop actually uses DisplayPort and then just has an adapter to make the HDMI port work.
Basically nobody actually uses HDMI over Type-C. The dongles are essentially DisplayPort over Type-C with a built-in DisplayPort to HDMI adapter
