So this is how privacy dies... https://robert.winter.ink/so-this-is-how-privacy-dies
Streaming services like Spotify are convenient but it also means you will never own the music. You will pay for the service "forever".
It doesn't have to be this way. Messaging isn't complicated. We solved this more than a decade ago. You have five incompatible messaging apps on your phone because greed drives companies to ignore compatibility and optimize for vendor lock-in. https://www.linuxjournal.com/content/lessons-vendor-lock-messaging
Internet messaging is so broken that FB alone owns 3 incompatible apps. Google has *6*, not counting the ones they canceled: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2020/05/google-unifies-messenger-teams-plans-more-coherent-vision/
I'd love to form more of a community with other designers, especially those focused on #UX and who share #Libre slash #OpenSource values.
If you do too, respond to this thread and we can see where it goes from there.
(boost appreciated!)
Password uniqueness matters.
Don't just change the case or add a number or letter to an existing password.

These passwords are not strong enough.
It's "World Password Day" - which is an excellent day to remind you to use an encrypted password manager. Literally any of them are better than not using one.
Why use one? It allows you to create unique complex usernames and passwords that are forgettable.
This increases your information security.
Our manager of choice is #KeePassXC - it's easy to use, syncs really well across any cloud service and is loaded with features and a browser extension.
Sometimes you want to add a personal view or more information to a topic, without loosing the current flow in the document.
Footnotes are a great way to handle that. We created a little video to show how to use them in CodiMD.
Feel free to share it and give us some feedback :) /sh

There’s no such thing as a backdoor that only lets in the "good guys."

Day 13 of the #100DaysToOffload Series:
Today's version of the "smart home" is not a smart home, it's a dumb home. If we want a smart home, we have a lot of work to do.
66% of people surveyed said they "always or mostly use the same password or a variation" across different websites. 😱
Don't make it easy for hackers. Use a password manager together with our password generator:

Hey! We're a new app from the @write_as team, helping you accept and review writing submissions on the web.
We're built on the same pared-down writing experience you get with Write.as, and closely integrated with the platform.
Next, we'll support publishing to any #WriteFreely instance, and other blogging / #ActivityPub platforms! Our overall goal is to create a #FOSS submission system built just for digital publications on the web and fediverse.
