7 things I can do without Google and Apple on my smartphone | #Linux Renaissance #007

@LinuxRenaissance Good topic. We need more open source options outside the Apple/Google duopoly. I'm currently running a Librem 5, which lets me do most major smart phone functions, but isn't reliable enough yet to ditch my iphone. I am also stuck using apps like Microsoft teams for work.

@tacticalpandale a pure Linux smartphone experience isn’t possible if you need “apps” because they are only being made for iOS and Android. That’s why /e/OS makes sense because it’s literally Android, but with no Google. Sailfish is a better Linux OS, in my opinion. I have had it installed a long time ago, but I need a fresh experience with it if I am going to have an opinion. And fresh experience costs 250€ so it will have to wait a bit.

@LinuxRenaissance I've thought about trying Sailfish. I've also heard people have success running Waydroid as a work-around to access android apps in a Linux environment.
