@sudo Thanks! I don't spot hoverflies a lot, so I try to give them a bit of attention when I see them.
I don't have a mobile phone because I don't enjoy the idea of being contactable when I'm not at my desk or within earshot of my landline. I don't want the intrusion or the distraction of anticipating intrusion when gardening, walking, cycling, etc. I don't enjoy the idea of contributing to demand for battery production or embracing the hardware churn that the mobile industry is anchored around
@Linux4Everyone@fosstodon.org This one.
It doesn't say too much. It kind of leaves a sense of mystery. ๐ต๏ธโโ๏ธ ๐
I read a couple of articles about the dangers of #ChatControl. This article by the Register makes a really strong case by demonstrating the technical, legal and practical shortcomings of such proposals.

Read it and then share it around. If you live in the EU, don't forget to give feedback.
โ There's a few more days to tell the EU that you don't want #chatcontrol

@Cheeseness Wow! Interesting. I don't own a smartphone either. May I ask why you don't own one? My reasons for that are related to digital privacy and reducing screen time.
Anyway, I think I agree that IMG_9787 is the best shot you've captured so far. However, IMG_7514 and IMG_7512 are pretty good too. Those are much closer shots.
I also think it is amazing that you managed to capture the 'mid-flight' photo. It could be a bit closer but it is beautiful regardless.
@may That is an interesting solution! I believe Distrobox and/or Toolbox uses Docker under the hood but I didn't think of using Docker itself in that way. I have to see if I can do something similar for Python.
@gmate8 I agree. Zorin is spectacular. I haven't really used it myself but I really like their marketing and the way they have positioned themselves as a distribution.
@Cheeseness That shot is pretty good regardless. At the very least, it's better than anything I've ever taken. ๐ Did you use your phone to take it?
@Tutanota I chose 'Other' because I don't really think about it. There are times when I use Tutanota while using a VPN or Tor, but I don't really do it specifically for that purpose.
@Azure ๐ That probably sounds like something Steve Jobs would say, doesn't it? From what I know, he really looked at computers as 'works of art' rather than just tools. It's why he expected people to use Apple products as-is.
@may I don't really know much about PHP development. As for Python, which is what I use, I have to admit that Windows probably provides a better experience.
On Linux, one of the most common issues is that it is very hard to get a 'specific version' of Python that isn't in your distro's repository. This is compounded by the fact that a lot of distros don't provide the latest packages.
Hopefully, this gets better with tools like Toolbox and Distrobox though.
@gmate8 ๐ I am also kind of with you there. I use Linux Mint Cinnamon because I just want something that is familiar and works out-of-the-box. I make very few changes, if any at all. (I still use the default wallpaper! ๐)
@purelinux That's nice. What kind of work do you do? Are you a developer? ๐ค
@Suiseiseki It's relatively more open source than what most people use while still being easily accessible.
For those #Linux users out there, what's your reason for using it?
Dealing with the issues of everyday computing.
