@may That is an interesting solution! I believe Distrobox and/or Toolbox uses Docker under the hood but I didn't think of using Docker itself in that way. I have to see if I can do something similar for Python.

@gmate8 I agree. Zorin is spectacular. I haven't really used it myself but I really like their marketing and the way they have positioned themselves as a distribution.

What is your preferred way of securely accessing your Tutanota account? πŸ€”

@Cheeseness That shot is pretty good regardless. At the very least, it's better than anything I've ever taken. πŸ˜„ Did you use your phone to take it?

@codeberg@mastodon.technology I was just trying to push a commit and wondered why it wasn't going through. I then noticed the site was down too. I am glad to see it fixed so soon! Keep up the good work. πŸ‘

@Tutanota I chose 'Other' because I don't really think about it. There are times when I use Tutanota while using a VPN or Tor, but I don't really do it specifically for that purpose.

@Azure πŸ˜‚ That probably sounds like something Steve Jobs would say, doesn't it? From what I know, he really looked at computers as 'works of art' rather than just tools. It's why he expected people to use Apple products as-is.

@may I don't really know much about PHP development. As for Python, which is what I use, I have to admit that Windows probably provides a better experience.

On Linux, one of the most common issues is that it is very hard to get a 'specific version' of Python that isn't in your distro's repository. This is compounded by the fact that a lot of distros don't provide the latest packages.

Hopefully, this gets better with tools like Toolbox and Distrobox though.

@gmate8 πŸ˜‚ I am also kind of with you there. I use Linux Mint Cinnamon because I just want something that is familiar and works out-of-the-box. I make very few changes, if any at all. (I still use the default wallpaper! πŸ˜„)

@purelinux@social.tchncs.de That's nice. What kind of work do you do? Are you a developer? πŸ€”

For those users out there, what's your reason for using it?

@Suzie97@mastodon.social I am curious, though. What made you dream something like that? Did you watch a thriller or something on Netflix?

@unfa I just listened to your 'PipeWire (LMC #12)' song via Audius. It was a blast! I doubt there is anyone else who can make listening to all that technical jargon about Linux so much fun. Seriously, I just became your lifelong fan! πŸ˜„

Using classes and object-oriented programming (OOP) in Python makes so much sense. It really provides a sweet spot between the complete isolation of functional programming and having no structure at all.

@Suzie97@mastodon.social Also, has anyone ever watched this cartoon as a kid?

@Suzie97@mastodon.social There is something really iconic about the monkey's face in that photo. It reminds me of King Kong. πŸ˜„

I got encouraged to record a reading of the new lore I drafted for my FPS game called Liblast.

So I have redrafted it once more and gave it a shot! If you like light-hearted science-fiction, FOSS and FPS games, you should find this enjoyable :D

The recording as well as the music were made using Ardour, Arch Linux and various open-source aduio plug-ins.

@bitwarden @tulpa@fosstodon.org I tried using the CLI tool to automate the creation of regular backups with a script but it keeps asking me for the master password multiple times. 😞
