Why do most people on Mastodon choose not to go by their actual name or at least profile picture? Very shortly we'll have a surge of fake accounts trolling every word people say on here. It's a matter of time.

@ikaferrergotich I'm sure people have different reasons, but in my case it's about privacy. I want an online search for my name to return as little as possible about myself. If I get another account using my full name, I would restrict it to purely work-related content.
I don't want to have a personal online presence.
I don't want people who Google me to find my reflections on how I feel about an online presence. I want them to find my work, and nothing else. I think the internet is creepy.
