@falgn0n The problem with hospitals is that they're run by people. Some people will always be better or worse at doing things (like running hospitals) than other people.

This heat wave keeps reminding me of J. G. Ballard's novel, The Drowned World. I'm a little unnerved by this.

@emsenn If you accept that cops will take your passport-containing-satchel and deport you anyway then having proof of citizenship will never make any difference. And nothing has changed; there have always been corrupt cops, there have always been overzealous officials and the government has always asserted the right to get rid of you if it wants. @natecull The point is it's not a failure of the supply chain, it's only a restriction of part of the supply chain. And it's temporary. The guy is pretending like Mars' tankers will never again be able to make it over the border to supply their factory. That it won't be possible to engineer tankers capable of making it through permanently delayed border queues. This is nonsense. Of course there will be disruption, it's called change. It's a good thing. We'll get through it.

So as a consequence of the UK leaving the EU without a deal, Mars bars go away and Mars, Incorporated's competitor's chocolate bars are all we can buy. I'm shocked by how banal this topic is.

@Pyretta I disagree that voting for the UK to leave the EU means voting for racism. Voting does not imply having the same motivations as other people who vote the same way. There are many different reasons for wanting the UK to leave the EU. Voting for one or many of these reasons is not the same as voting for, supporting or believing in, other less valid reasons like racism.
