If you would like to support the development of Invidious and have some extra cash, go to: https://liberapay.com/omarroth.
For proof, here is the developer's Patreon page as of 12 October, 2019. Linking through the Wayback Machine to avoid Cloudflare: https://web.archive.org/web/20191012222327/https://www.patreon.com/omarroth
I would also like to point out that the developer's Patreon has been mysteriously cited as "in violation of community guidelines." Apparently, making a libre client program to the world's most prominent video sharing platform is against Patreon's "community guidelines." They should just be transparent and say they suspended it for preventing the flow of money into Google's wallet.
For more information on this purge, check out @amolith@masto.nixnet.xyz's https://nixnet.xyz/invidious, a grave yard for his former Invidious instance. They've done the same to many more folks. Godspeed, everyone
Hi Fediverse 👋
let me sum up the situation around #switchingsocial
Around September 20th, the original (anonymous) author of switching.social shut down its website and all related Social Media accounts, including mastodon 🤔
This info reached me (@tobias ) the next day via my German version @swisode .
As there hasn't been any sign of life since then, I restored the website and created this new account. Right now I'm out of spare time to work on it, but that'll change in a few weeks 🙂
In response to the President Trump (USA)'s executive order blocking all commercial and non-commercial property transactions with Venezuela, Adobe has begun cancelling accounts belonging to Venezuelans.
Regardless of this being a continued embargo, this is a lesson to be learned to never trust software which makes it obligatory to register an account in order to use the features of that software.

Backdoors into encrypted communications won't just be used by "good" governments. Authoritarian regimes will spy on dissidents, and say they're fighting terrorism. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2019/10/open-letter-governments-us-uk-and-australia-facebook-all-out-attack-encryption

Good Morning, just a reminder to folks that the best place for Pixelfed support is the #pixelfed IRC channel on freenode
"Problematic opinions" is a charge people in power level against dissenters. Colonizers think indigenous people have "problematic opinions". The fossil fuel industry thinks climate change and peak oil activists have "problematic opinions". White supremacists think MLK and Malcolm X had "problematic opinions". Parliamentarians thought the Suffragettes had "problematic opinions". The corporate tech industry thinks the software freedom movement have "problematic opinions".
I don't really care if I loose followers over this, I'm very tired of being quiet about it.
