@nickh wouldn't be the first time I've messed with adb
@pkimpton yeah I don't usually uninstall via adb. I was just saying reinstalling google core service apk to a vendor phone is a nightmare.
@nickh well the phone is beyond past warranty. And LG made it a bitch to root it not to mention find a unlocked boot loader for it.
@pkimpton LG tried hard but the community find a way. I just did a v20 and v30. Nether was easy. V20 probably turned out better
@nickh I'll be poking around. I disabled Audible, you'd think as a Prime member other Amazon services would be free. 😂😂Uninstalled Amazon Music. Disabled Google Music. Ever since I got it NFL, IMDB, etc have always been disabled.
@pkimpton man alive! The bloat is real!
I didn't flash google services with this last time and this phone has never run smoother.
@nickh and at times a a nightmare Slacker Radio was another could only disable. Why I'm doing most stuff from a browser now.
@pkimpton well because Slacker Radio is some how an intrical operating system asset lol
@nickh apparently... 🙄😒
@nickh See now if they made https://somafm.com/ as the main music app I'd be happy. Gotta have my Metal Detector channel. :)
@pkimpton looks like a good webapp, seems like a python scrapping app could be made for it. Like newpiped or musicpiped does for YouTube. Possibly my next weekends project, after all going to need music on the Librem 5.
Dig some of these stations! Thanks for the share!
@nickh Not a problem, my top favorite online radio. I want to get some merch but damn the prices. lmao I just may splurge sometime for a coffee mug or a hoodie.
@nickh Wound up using this https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/ to strip out some of the bloat so far after rebooting Messages+, imdb, nfl, slacker radio are gone.... Next up Audible and LG Health. I know I walk enough I don't need them to monitor it for me. lmao
@pkimpton That is awesome! Next thing you know, you are going to get better battery life and a faster phone! It will make the next two months or so go by so much smoother
@nickh yep, stripped ou the stock email, calendar, the asurion security (since I use sophos), dropped Audible as well. Debating on the LG launcher, but not until I find another lightweight backup.
@pkimpton I would worry that the LG launcher would be like the HTC launcher and parts of the launcher for the lock screen. On the manufacturers version of Android, you are right, a back up before doing that is a good idea
@nickh decided to keep the LG launcher, don't want to risk f'n with the 2nd screen.
@pkimpton ahhh you are using the v20! That is what I am using for the time being.
I have the Tmo version, with a 10500 mHa battery and Lineage 16 (Android 9). Battery lasts about 2.5 days with normal usage.
@nickh Yep, got the V20 had bought it outright a couple of years back. Figured I'd use it til the proverbial wheels fell off. I was asked why keep it if you get the new device. And I said I always re-purpose old devices. So it might be just a music player for the truck at work.
@pkimpton Nice, I honestly downgraded from the v30 to the v20, love the the replaceable battery, IR blaster, "second" screen, and headphone jack. I don't like using BT when I have the option
@nickh Stripped out the stock music app, and the stupid LG music widget. Obviously keeping the necessary apps.
@pkimpton you van on most phone via ADB without root but it is not for the faint of heart if you ever want it back.
