Why can't the linux community just get together and develop a unified suite of desktop apps. Mail, contacts, pdf manipulator, spreadsheet and writer, notes, calendar. Similar to what the Mac offers.

@larry There are command line pdf manipulators. Probably some graphical ones too. But as far as a suite, everyone likes choice. You get Libre Office with doc editing, spreadsheets, etc. But doubt you'll find one option to fit all under one hood.

@pkimpton
It just seems to me that the one thing that holds back maybe a more widespread adoption of linux on the desktop by the non-geeks is a simple way to perform everyday tasks with a unified suite.

@larry sone just all honestly think it's all command line. It doesn't have to be, they don't want it to be. My two roommates, I set each of their laptops up with standard Linux Mint. They're happy as pigs in mud. I ssh to them, and update both remotely from my phone or my laptop. Linux Mint but using the i3 window manager. So nobody else will want to use it. lol

@larry plus what I don't like about Apple.. "Hey new OS... Son of a.. Time to buy a whole new machine" 😩😂 But seriously Linux can be as easy or as hard as people make it out to be honestly.

@larry @pkimpton why are there so many arthouse movies that nobody watches? can't these people just make proper action blockbusters together, like marvel? :|
