With even a rudimentary understanding of how science works as a social institution, it is obvious that Kennedy is lying yet again. But in the classroom, we don't teach how science works as a social institution. It's time to fix that.

@Pheobezen @nova it's the name of nova's instance (hachyderm.io)
@gothian@mastodon.online @elonjet Excellent question! Burning a kilogram of jet fuel produces about 3kg of CO2 (https://www.offsetguide.org/understanding-carbon-offsets/air-travel-climate/climate-impacts-from-aviation/co2-emissions/). I guess this is because the oxygen comes from the air, not from the fuel, and it accounts for about two thirds of the mass. Also, the figure of 51 tons likely accounts for the emissions related to producing and transporting said fuel.
So I guess tl;dr US real estate is a 400 year old Ponzi scheme, that includes farmland, & the real problem with w turbines is they're a bad fit for real estate Ponzi schemes.
Also, farmer talking points are a lot like pro wrestling plotlines. It's show business all the way down.
@hazelweakly I wish I could tell you the story of the 3 Terraform configs that you could only `apply` once, and in a specific order, and don't even think about `destroy`ing the infra or you'll be waiting four weeks for a new SSL cert...
Want to work on Mastodon full time? Iโd like to pay a Rails dev for the next 3+ months to implement some auth improvements that matter to me but also just burn down bugs, make perf improvements, whatever is needed as this place grows. Remote 100% ok but need 3-4 hrs of Pacific time zone overlap, fair pay, meaningful work. #fedihire #ruby #rails #job
@tony @ADSBexchange please consider posting them here, I might not be the only one here who's warming up to the idea of contributing ADS-B coverage ๐
I'm putting together a twitter thread of safe places for Blacktwitter to enter Mastodon over on the birdsite. If you're part of #BlackFedi and you are okay with me putting your mastodon user name in the thread could you reply to this? Boosts welcome.
@mattdsteele IFTTT?
Does anyone know what the current most common performance problems are for Mastodon servers? Looking through GitHub and trying to find issues, but I'm curious if anyone can comment what bottlenecks most instances are hitting.
If it's anything I have expertise to help improve...would like to do that. Can anyone point me to any central place people might be working on this by chance? I'm sure some very smart people are already on it - looking to chip in.
@ian My mind parsed that as a sed command at first ๐คจ
@JonRohrich There's Fedified, although I have to say it's not super enjoyable to use on mobile. https://www.fedified.com/
@briankrebs @Turnimunt @GossiTheDog just did a quick birdsite timeline survey : got HP Enterprise and a couple french banks (BPI and BNP)
@jalefkowit oh the flashbacks ๐จ
