I agree that calling people joining mastodon from Twitter “Twitter refugees” is silly.
But the argument that nobody fleeing Twitter is in mortal danger is kind of bad. A lot of people, especially queer creatives, have depended on it for their basic survival. Me too (hence I still keep the Inochi2D account there)
So yeah, I’m stressed out because I could be in danger if my entire safety net and such vanishes underneath me. Due to mental health I am unable to really survive otherwise.

To this extent I'm really interested to know how the age breakdown of people on the #Fediverse. On one hand it would seem to make sense to me that most people here remember the "old internet" before the centralization and they're here to rekindle that flame of independence. On the other hand the youths are generally pretty up on this whole technology thing. I grew up on the internet and since then smartphones have become even more ubiquitous.
