Just saw the new 50th anniversary restoration of Francis Ford Coppola’s THE CONVERSATION (1974) at IFC Center in New York City.
“It remains one of my favorite films,” Coppola said in a pre-taped intro. And mine too.
Gene Hackman’s deadpan paranoia is my official mood of fall.
"Until ALICE, there hadn’t been a single mother on TV in a low income job, fighting for healthcare, fighting for benefits…Those stories came out of awareness of what was going on for working women.” — Linda Lavin
ALICE debuted on CBS tonight in 1976.
Joan Blondell #BOTD and Tyrone Power in NIGHTMARE ALLEY (1947).
She was always a natural, but she operates on another level in this film.

The brilliant Melissa Dell first taught her course Econ 1342: The History of Economic Growth at Harvard, in, I think, 2015. When I learned about this, my reaction was envy: I thought that I would like to do that.So I do:

In 9 years we've onboarded over 140 vendors, shipped ~110 million firmware files and added support for ~85 firmware update protocols for ~1600 different devices. I'm pretty happy with that.
