@czimm_economist Brilliant, thanks for sharing. I think it'd be useful to people if SSRN profile pages allowed this too but I haven't seen that yet.

NEW: Mastodon users can now register their handle with RePEc. This allows to verify their RePEc profile on Mastodon. Watch your monthly RePEc email for the link.

Mastodon is really having a moment in mainstream news coverage. CNN, BBC, TIME, etc.

The influx of users will continue at an alarming rate. Remember to be welcoming, and kind, and positive, and helpful.

This isn't just an opportunity to improve the idea of social media, it's an opportunity to shine a wonderful light on #opensource.

I'll write more later on how Ed #Prescott's major contributions came to be, but in fact other economists did so in the 1970s to 1990s better than us

Today's #whosaidwhenhistecon is thus in honor of Prescott

So who said when (and to whom?) 1/n

"Prescott has written on finance..industrial org, macro, adaptative control, optimal control...bayesian econ. Tom has hit more home run than Ed, Ed has hit more doubles and triples. Ed is an all around basic price man..."

Honestly, this product is so great, I'd be happy to pay $8/month for Mastodon blue

And look - MIT already has a gated instance. Anyone who's on mastodon.mit.edu is verified to have an MIT email. Neat isn't it?
mastodon.mit.edu/

So the German government has set up its own #mastodon #instance, simplifying validation—official accounts are on the server. Super interesting and curious if/who else will follow suit.

I am unexpectedly excited to see @notjustbikes arrive on the scene!

If you don’t know them – absolutely fantastic YouTube vids on urban planning and the death-by-a-thousand-cuts of car centric city design

I like reading #introduction posts even from those I know, so here's mine:

I'm a researcher at the French CNRS. I study the applied practices of economists in the past 70 years or so, across fields (macro, urban, public, welfare etc), topics, methods & policy advice

I think that it is very important for economists & public at large to understand the history of their concepts, tools & models, so I try to post relevant research, archival nuggets & thread some stories

econjobmarket.org/positions/88
econjobmarket.org/positions/90

We are a very lively department, with great students from UG to PHDs, and 2nd in the UK for research.

Get in touch if you have questions about the dept/life in the UK.
We also want to emphasize that we especially welcome applications from #LGBTQ and minority applicants.

There is now a Mastodon server just for #EconTwitter!

Thanks to @paulgp for building this lifeboat

If you’re looking for a server this is a great option

Every Mastodon instance that has a Patreon (or other funding system) should make a tier that's $8 just for the lulz.
