Helpful and thorough review of Kagi from @matt 📺
It covers domain ranking, lenses, viewing web archives with the @internetarchive's Wayback Machine, keyboard shortcuts, bang shortcuts, sorting search results, and an overview of the iOS app:
@kims huh I guess science doesn’t have a good explanation, except that we have few neurons processing the periphery vision and so the brain makes guesses about what is there and this pattern throws our brains off.
@kims wait how does that happen?
Ninio's extinction illusion. There are twelve black dots but they cannot all be seen at once
The brain is an amazing thing
[I don't love the job I did with the #alttext and am open to suggestions]
@kjhealy As far as I have seen, Dan Ariely's career has been unaffected by anything?
Francesca Gino’s grotesque effort to sue the Data Colada people for defamation and interfering with her career has been dismissed. Good! Her defamation claim against Harvard has also been dismissed. She can continue against Harvard for breach of contract. Because they seem to have messed up procedural aspects of their review of her work, like which policy they followed and why, I'd bet the most likely outcome now is that Harvard settles—i.e. pays her off—and she leaves.

@Jeremiah I just recently discovered @AsteroidOS and one really cool feature is that they make it easy for people to make custom watchfaces. Seems like good fun.

Just saw the new 50th anniversary restoration of Francis Ford Coppola’s THE CONVERSATION (1974) at IFC Center in New York City.
“It remains one of my favorite films,” Coppola said in a pre-taped intro. And mine too.
Gene Hackman’s deadpan paranoia is my official mood of fall.
@helenczerski saw this post and now I’ve just ordered the book!
"Until ALICE, there hadn’t been a single mother on TV in a low income job, fighting for healthcare, fighting for benefits…Those stories came out of awareness of what was going on for working women.” — Linda Lavin
ALICE debuted on CBS tonight in 1976.
@vkc I know that @thisismissem is working on trust & safety tools for mastodon, I wonder if she has any thoughts on what tools can help with this problem or if others are working on them?
