The social media landscape is pretty frustrating from a user perspective. Cohost is the latest to fall. I’ve seen in my timeline scrolling by: “good news is that can’t happen here!”

But it has. Over and over again. We’ve seen instances come and go. Sure, that isn’t the whole fediverse, and people can move to or create an account on another instance. But to the person on an instance shutting down or already gone dark, it’s pretty deflating and some never come back.

I like it here. I encourage everyone to not take it for granted.
