Are there any Linux laptop vendors that sell anything with a 4k screen???

One of the best parts about Cale Makars goal last night is how it's breaking peoples brains about the offsides rule. Love it or hate that's the rule and he knew exactly what he was doing according to the interviews.

Hi fediverse! Boosts appreciated on this one.

I’m part of a co-op building a platform for artists to sell art without getting exploited. I’ve been working on it for a while but there’s a lot of work to do and I could use some help. A ton of the main features are in place, but there’s still some big gaps and a lot of polish left before it can launch.

The platform is fully open source and developed in the open. It’s built on Phoenix/Elixir and Tailwindcss. Our co-op is already incorporated and established and it’s open to members that want to actually commit but you don’t need to be a member to contribute or help.

Does this sound interesting? I’d love some help! I’m also happy to answer questions. And no, you don’t need to know Elixir already. It’s pretty easy to learn for the things you’d be using it for. Even some design help would be welcome. Feel free to reply here or DM me!

So are there any open source hybrid smart watches that anyone knows about? My expectations aren't high but figured this is the better place to ask. I do love my Withings watch but am wondering if there's other alternatives to using some of the features rather than connecting it to Google Fit

Ok Fediverse, one thing I absolutely love about the Birdsite is watching historians and other academics share their work in public to improve our understanding. I think I'm just gonna start cross posting some things I find interesting as I come across them. Maybe we can make a new hashtag? For now I'm gonna just reuse one from Birdsite that Dr. Karin Wulf created.

Really excited to try out Mimic 3 Text To Speech engine by @mycroft_ai when it comes out here soon. Looking forward to seeing how much of an improvement it is and hopefully try it offline too.

Trying to imagine what my next job would be thinking about the parts of my current job that I enjoy. I really love open standards and . Lately I've been digging in more to standards as well. In the past my work has focused on bundling, developer tooling, and trying to improve CI processes.

I think if I was to try and sum up my work it's that I like enabling teams and individuals to go faster.

Would appreciate any signal boost on this one. I’m incredibly excited to build a team around BeeWare. I want to make sure we leave no stone unturned.

Would you like to be paid to work on BeeWare? Anaconda is now hiring for a full time, mid- to senior software engineer to join the Open Source group! beeware.org/news/buzz/now-hiri

Really wanna replay Persona 3 again on handheld. When's it coming to Switch

I love but the serialization of a boolean to a string always throws me. Anyone have a good way of handling this that they really like and want to share?

Been working on a component library with Storybook JS. Are there any best practices for adding a story around typography? I want to display font and headings to make sure they're correct but this seems harder to accomplish than expected....

Those of you who use a cross posting service with Birdsite, which one do you use and why?

Mastodon admins:

How large is the current database storage of your instance?

(Retoots welcomed; I'm thinking about options for a small instance implementation...)

So far my biggest gripe about Tusky and it's forks are that I can only have 5 tabs at a time. What's with this restriction? It seems arbitrary. How am I supposed to keep lists of topics and ppl? Maybe the official Mastodon app is different 🤔

I'm still a pretty basic user, but I would like to see how well I could replace VSCode with Nvim ultimately. VSCode is just straight murder on a battery. If you're a or user tips and tricks appreciated!!

Fiddling around with Neovim again today.

Because why work on your side projects when you could work on the tooling _underneath_ your side projects.

FYI for newbies

Not many ppl on the fediverse talking about it looks like. I'll have to start sharing about them here as well as on the musksite

I'm interested in moving from mastodon.social to an instance where I am a paying customer; it would be especially awesome if the vendor also provided other hosted libre tools for paying customers, such as an Owncloud/Nextcloud or Jitsi/BigBlueButton instance. I welcome your recommendations & I welcome boosts.
