@rauschma @heath@mastodon.cloud is that very surprising? It's almost never large organizations that are the first to take up new technology if they aren't the ones pushing it.

If rail workers do end up engaging in a wildcat or otherwise illegal strike, PLEASE remember that strikes are meant to be disruptive. If you see someone talking about the rail strike and how it's having such a huge impact, say things like "Yeah, it's crazy how much of our economy relies on them. That's why they deserve good health care."

Don't give in to anti-labour rhetoric. Combat false narratives. Solidarity Forever.

Good morning (here on the east coast of the US anyway)! Super exciting to see Historians.Social taking off and taking shape. Some reminders from @jmadelman @lizcovart and me: 1. Invite your friends! This place is for anyone thinking and working historically. 2. Anyone wanting to join needs to clarify their name and reason for joining. For humans by humans is our watchword here! 3. Read the terms! 4. Consider joining the mod team or encouraging others. 5. Have a great day. 😊

Trying to manifest some more sports content on here so I can finally remove Twitter from my life

Look I hate posting links to Twitter but if you're an (American) football fan just watch this clip. You're not supposed to throw across your body. You're not supposed to throw the ball while jumping. Neither of these are things that you're supposed to have success doing. Doing them both together in one play? Josh Allen is a special man.

@heidilifeldman thanks again for taking the time to annotate this ruling. I think it's great when lawyers do this to broaden access to the law and decisions for lay folks!

@heidilifeldman I could have worded the question better. The first step, callous disregard, is the necessary part. If you don't have that then you haven't proven the need for "extraordinary equitable jurisdiction". The court *could* have stopped there but decided they really wanted to hammer home the point that this entire stay was wrong.

#introduction #histodons Hi to all in this new #mastodon #history space. I'm a historian of #women in the Americas & professor at a large public with a diverse student body. Concerned about #reproductivejustice, access to #childcare, #votingrights, #foodinsecurity. Love working with folks beyond the academia to connect with the histories of women & girls. When I'm not grading you can find me in our #organicgarden, on a #prairiehike, and avoiding grading.

It's not enough to squat a Mastodon handle that you never use.

It's not enough to automatically repost your Twitter timeline.

You have a chance to be part of something new. Something important. To shape it in the right way.

With all of us.

Breathe life into *this* community and *this* network by posting here, creating here, connecting here.

Be here now.

@heidilifeldman thanks for taking the time to do this!

Just to confirm (it's been a long time since my undergrad torts class) but the 11th Circuit didn't actually *need* to list every reason why the Richey test failed correct? Failing any single part of the test is enough to vacate the decision.

For those interested, the link is to my annotated copy of today’s opinion from the 11th Circuit, dismissing the special master appointed by Aileen Cannon on ground that she wholly wrongly took jurisdiction over the case in the first place. I’ve annotated with the aim of making the opinion, which is clearly written anyway, even more accessible to non-lawyers. #lawFedi #ruleOfLaw #11thCircuit #appellateLaw drive.google.com/file/d/1B7kUU

Today's interactive #Google Doodle celebrates the birthday of #videogaming pioneer Jerry Lawson with playable and editable #videogames, designed by #Black game designers. Pretty cool!

@aurynn @chrisjrn so.... what does that mean in cost money wise?

@CarlosGS sorry about that! I have no clue why that would be happening to be honest. I muted the conversation on that post because it got wayyyyy out of hand. That's the best I can suggest unfortunately 😐

@benpocalypse only one person on my team got hit. Could have been worse. Could have been in a position where we didn't need to do any layoffs. Sad day here.

Sitting on a Slack call with my team wondering if we're safe from layoffs... how's your morning going? 😩

I absolutely despise the suburban habit of driving your big SUV one thousand feet to pick up your kids at the bus stop.

Nice! PocketCasts did a Spotify Wrapped like recap of everything I listened to in the past year. Here's mine:

I spent 6 days 19 hours listening to podcasts in 2022 pca.st
