I see that @threadunroller@mastodon.social has made it to Mastodon. I have suspended it from religion.masto.host, and will suspend any other content scraping bots I become aware of.

@jaredwhite I'm not sure we ever really trusted corporations to be good citizens so much as we leaned into the utility and didn't consider the tradeoffs. But yeah big agree that we're all reconsidering the risks these days.
We're asking Congress to pass a law to stop the judicial branch from charging exorbitant fees to read public court dockets, and to stop the courts from illegally using the fees to pay for unrelated court expenses. Public records should be free for everyone to access in bulk. https://fixthecourt.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/Group-letter-on-OCA-11.16.22.pdf
Hello, Fediverse! We’re the Endless OS Foundation, a non-profit bridging the digital divide with technology designed to make computing and learning accessible, fun, and safe for all.

@ArtBear@mastodonapp.uk @cfiesler actually this is a very good thread that outlines some of the positive ways in which QT is used by different marginalized (here specifically Black) groups. Looks like I should have scrolled down further in my thread to see this!
@shengokai thanks for teaching me the name of this behavior. It's something I've seen but didn't know how to describe.
I'm converting my mastodon critiques into a word document that I will likely use to post mastodon local versions of those large threads about mastodon that I've made on twitter.
Having said that, I'm not really "anti-mastodon," as much as I am trying to point out that the fediverse does not have the tools to support the ways that marginalized groups built community on the bird site.
And it really comes down to affordances of the platforms.
@cfiesler @ArtBear@mastodonapp.uk "extremely rare" seems too harsh. I would venture to say QT are overwhelmingly used in a negative manner but they DO have positive use cases.
If they could be redesigned to limit the negative uses I wouldn't hate seeing them here. 🤷♂️
@killyourfm oooo I like that phrase "virtual living room". Feels like a nice way to describe how we should want our socials to be 😀
@mekkaokereke on my instance there are no local and federated timeliness so home is all there is. I see no problem with using Mastodon this way 🤷♂️
@DanNess I mean there's no "eggs" here just faceless elephants which is the equivalent. I only posted when I noticed a few like that following me. Which is totally different than just someone who hasn't gotten around to filling out an account yet.
@MALPI yes that was exactly what I had said about #kubernetes. If we aren't managing it feels wrong to call us a platform team. It's a large product so there's a bunch of teams all doing their own thing. We're like the "meta" product team.
There are no SREs embedded with us but organizationally were with the SREs not the other product teams (I think). So we get a lot of crossover work with them just to keep things confusing 😁
@Witchwithcats @MattTheQuick just curiosity on my part. See the first post before the poll for a bit more context on the question.
I’m looking to follow more #blacktwitter #blackmastodon #blackvoices peeps here. I’m wanting to fully migrate from the bird app and I’m looking forward to curating a good feed over here.
