Today America took a step forward in recognizing and protecting the rights of the LGBT community. We still have a long way to go as a country to recognize everyone's basic rights but this is a positive step forward. It was only 7 years ago that SCOTUS ruled in Obergefell v Hodges in a 5-4 decision.

@mcneely how confident are we that it’ll pass in the house? Too often I see that some legislation passed in either the senate or the house, only to find out it’s not actually going to go anywhere in the other.

@cassidyjames the House passed its own version with "nearly 50 Republican votes" and all the Democrats voting for it. Remember this is the lake duck season where the Dems still control the House. Majority Leader Hoyer expects them to take up the bill next week. It should pass and be signed before the holidays.
