Not gonna lie: everything that's been happening lately with social media is causing me to rethink my business plans.

I've been working on a paid CSS course which I was hoping to release early next year, but that was largely dependent on doing a huge marketing blitz on birdsite. Hoo boy.

Meanwhile, past product ideas are more relevant now with the open web reasserting itself. So hmm…!

@jaredwhite why does the marketing blitz have to be on the birdsite? Can't you just do marketing in other places? (serious questions, I don't know anything about marketing).

There are tons of sites that do courses these days and CSS is something that a lot of devs struggle with. I don't think the interest level will have changed at all.

@mcneely It's all due to the algorithm. If you get enough followers and constantly post on certain topics, those topics end up getting engaged with and re-tweeted far more. That's a double-edged sword of course, especially if you need to fan the flames of controversy to get reach.

As of this moment, while I dearly love the fediverse, I have no idea if it's able to help me as a creator monetarily. Just being honest.
