An #admin note on growth--we roughly doubled active membership in the last couple weeks. We've been able to keep up technically and socially, and I'm excited to see more activity on woof.group and across the fediverse. That said, I don't plan on us growing indefinitely. I'll close registrations when we start hitting site slowness or it becomes difficult for me to keep up with community management. My sense is we have a lot of headroom here--may top out around a thousand active users?

My intent has always been to run woof.group like a bar--we've got a few bartenders, know the regulars by name, can track the general feeling of the room and step in if there's trouble. Broader than a friend group, closer than a big event.

The thing I'm really excited about is having these other bars next door, so to speak--rubber.social, kinky.business, bear.community, mastodon.hypnoguys.com, and so on--and having us all share conversations. Even if we cap here, there'll be space for newcomers.

@aphyr that's an excellent analogy that I think works really well. There's a reason why that trope has existed and worked so well for decades on TV
