#TheorizingTheFediverse

H1: There are distinct pulses of Twitter-to-Mastodon migration driven by events in Twitter’s history.

H2: Later cohorts of users will have lower familiarity + commitment to FOSS values + projects than earlier cohorts.

H3: New users will default to joining a general instance first and then micro-migrate to a more specific instance later.

H4: Greater circulation of folk documentation for using Fediverse affordances will attract and retain more new user activity.

@bkeegan IMHO H2 will be the one to watch. It seems that the communities "adjacent" to FOSS seem to be the ones I've noticed moving so far (, , and mostly). But anecdoctally there's also starting to be more academics slowly migrating. Personally I think this is a good thing but only time will tell how it works out.
