If you're not American, ask yourself:
If America has a second Civil War - for example, if the Qanon Republicans pull another Jan 6 but this time it works - which faction will end up controlling Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure?
Do you want to bet your entire country's economy and data privacy on American Cloud systems always being operated by a friendly nation? Or even always a "not actually currently in a shooting war with us" nation?
Ten years from now? Twenty years from now?
Centralised messenger Signal has just announced that they are making part of their server software closed source. They claim it is to fight spam, but by using closed source they make it impossible for outsiders to verify the truth. This is worrying.
We really, really need a fully open, decentralised alternative to Signal.
There are several alternatives being developed, please support them:

This rant about Microsoft controlling TypeScript and through that, re-centralising the whole Javascript ecosystem, is very interesting to me
because
I have always been suspicious of Typescript just because it's *compiled*. It doesn't feel like compilation is native to the interpreted, distributed, Javascript model. It's a single point of trust that doesn't need to be there, a class division that can be exploited.
And welp. Looks like that's exactly what's happening!
This new paper shows the massive failure of GDPR/e-Privacy enforcement on apps:
* 81,4% of Android apps contacted a tracking domain during start (before consent)
* 86.1% of Android apps could access the AdId
* Children apps have an increased prevalence of sharing the Ad-ID than average
And: No clear winner between iOS and Android regarding privacy
