Lo que poca gente sabe es qué las SIM son pequeños ordenadores que ejecutan un mini sistema operativo y applets de Java (fueron diseñados así porque en el pasado se pensaron para contener todas las apps del móvil, pero eso, como podemos observar hoy en día, no ocurrió). Las aplicaciones de una SIM se suelen llamar Applets y se ejecutan en la CPU de la tarjeta SIM, completamente separada del teléfono. En muchos casos el teléfono ni siquiera ve lo que está pasando. Las aplicaciones SIM pueden ser instaladas en remoto por un operador externo. Las SIM no solo tienen acceso directo al chip de radio, sino también al sistema NFC (tecnología de comunicación inalámbrica creada para el intercambio de datos dos dispositivos cercanos, es decir pagar con el móvil o abrir el coche con el móvil, por ejemplo), Bluetooth, Wifi y algunos sensores. La tarjeta SIM puede acceder a algunos de estos directamente sin pedir permiso al sistema operativo o al usuario. No #Prosody monthly trunk development summary last month as all energy went into wrapping up the 0.12.0 release.

Quite a few changes went into trunk just before the release was tagged, such as the 'prosodyctl check turn' command and updates to the default configuration template.

With the big release out of the way, we can get back to adding new features to trunk. First among was support for happy eyeballs, which can speed up connection times in face of issues with one of IPv6 or IPv4.

Mastodon is cool but it lacks my favorite feature from birdsite which is the timeline jumping as soon as your eyes see an interesting post that you'll never find again
