My priest talked about the consecration yesterday. He said Pius XII consecrated Russia, but it was by papal bull, and not in communion with all the bishops of the world.
John Paul II consecrated "the world", but he didn't mention Russia by name.
It may actually be Pope Francis who performs the consecration per Our Lady's wishes.
Our bishop asked his priests to perform the consecration at the exact same time, and our priest invited us to attend.
I'm praying for the best too.
@leetaur I need to see if our bishop in Dubuque, IA, is participating.
We're living in wild times.
@leetaur Eric Sammons often says things that I think but can't say as succinctly. He just tweeted:
Honestly now, who had "Pope Francis consecrates Russia to the Immaculate Heart" on their 2022 Bingo Card?
@leetaur I hope it's all on the up and up. I hate to say it's weird for a pope like him to make this kind of consecration, because he seems so anti-Catholic Tradition. But, if he does something good, I don't want to take that away from him.
Also, I don't know what to make of the fact that this consecration isn't generating a buzz in the mainstream media, positive or negative.
In any case, we are praying for the best.
