35 years ago this morning, at 8 o’clock, I went out to buy the day’s paper. I remember it pretty well! It was the day I transitioned, and the first time I’d gone out as *me* in the daytime. Less than 20 feet from the front door, two of my neighbours were having a catch-up.

I was greeted with a cheery “Good morning!” followed a heartbeat later with an equally cheery “What do we call you now?” as they looked me up and down. “Naomi”, I said, and told them what was happening.

It's very disheartening to see that in the space of a month, the majority of images on my feed went from being described to having not even one sentence as a description. I started ID-ing on tumblr but #Mastodon really encouraged me to make it an actual habit.

For anyone wondering, I'm still unable to access Twitter until I delete this tweet, which is factual journalism that doesn't even break the location rule Twitter enacted a few days ago.
