@SexyCyborg

OH WOW, so many layers of garbage in so few characters. This has to be a record.

this is the most succinct response I've ever seen to the comment "but Android is Linux!!"

The anxious urge to say "no worries either way" when you are actually worrying both ways plus a secret third way

The EU, UK, and various states are pushing "protect the children!" laws that will effectively mandate age verification technologies for most websites.

Turns out the French data protection agency (which doesn't mess around) has said that all existing age verification technologies violate people's privacy...

Wow it turns out that Elon Musk owning twitter and allowing all the nazis and shitheads back on has... driven a huge rise in hate speech! Couldn't have seen this one coming. theverge.com/2022/12/2/2348980

If you have some bugs after updating to v2.5.0, try cleaning up the cache on Advanced settings or even resetting heroic (it will keep your login session and games).

On Linux, creating a new wine prefix also does the trick.

Also, Heroic is NOT an official launcher for Epic or GOG. Do not ask them for support if you have issues with it.

We also cannot guarantee that any game will keep working after an update on a non-supported platform.
But you can always seek help ou our community. :)

@tilvids I am good with ads but I don't want them to be targeted to me beyond the instance I'm on.

Good, quiet and tasteful ads catered to the instance they are posted on would be okay, IMHO.

Of course, I'd rather no ads at all but we have to be realistic.

Power Rangers, Mental health, Mentions of suicide and awesome 90's Halloween costumes.

Those are fair points. I’ll keep a more attentive eye on the game. It did feel like Arceus was better looking from the little I played of Violet.
As far as starters I went with Fuecoco. Ever since Red I’ve always used the Fire Starter (The Prodigy, anyone?)

Hello Mastodon. I post random photos from the NW Highlands of Scotland. Mostly from Torridon.

And immediately after noticing the breakage, @awai uploaded a fixed version of mesa to our staging mobian repository. We will file an issue for the version in @debian as well, of course.

Big shoutout to everyone involved, thanks!

Scam Alert!

If you receive an email or response on Mastodon like the following, DO NOT click the link. It is a scam fishing for login details at the very least.

"Mastodon has detected botting malware on your PC that is congesting the Mastodon network. All affected accounts will be suspended within 24 hours unless removed. _https://REDACTEDLINK"

@robertmaidstone @Gina

Legitimate question: what do you mean about the visual being unacceptable?

Admittedly,I am only a couple hours in but I thought it looked great!
I wish it had Arceus’ gameplay but so far it’s pretty good.

P.S. it IS buggy though and that’s a bit lame.

For comparison:

Mastodon is 6 years old and grew out of a university student project. Per GitHub data, it currently has 2 consistently full-time devs, including the project founder, and 1 part-time. It is being funded out of a 31k USD/mo Patreon, and until recently was closer to 20k, which is used to pay for development, hosting of two large instances, and moderation.

Mastodon has had less funding than Block Party and is being compared to Twitter. Give it funding and time and it will catch up.

Increase in hate speech on bird site

I posted my last video with Emily here and on Twitter. I have nearly four times as many followers on Twitter... Yet my Mastodon post got three times the engagement.

It would have got ZERO engagement on Twitter if Emily hadn't liked and retweeted it.

I was interviewed about supply chain security (around 15 min mark) in a longer CNBC feature about manufacturing phones in the USA. In short, it's less about trust concerns with any particular country/govt., and more about reducing the links in the supply chain to reduce the opportunities to tamper with hardware.

Our Made-in-USA-electronics Librem 5 USA phone also got a number of shout-outs. Pretty neat!
