A local authority has said the widespread placing of flags across its county is "an act of intimidation and division".

Oxfordshire County Council issued a formal legal notice to the Raise The Colours group, in response to its continued placing of flags across Oxfordshire.

Council leader Liz Leffman described residents as feeling "distressed, unwelcome and unsafe in their own neighbourhoods," amid more than 200 complaints regarding Union and St George's flags appearing on the county's lampposts.
