The recent rust projects I've compiled have eaten close to a gig in disk (500 megs of dependencies), maybe that issue is more of a 'cargo bad' reaction. Rust itself is around 500 megs, 've had problems with running on other architectures...
tcc + musl comes to under 10M. rust makes gcc + glibc (200M) look light.

@EdwardTorvalds@mstdn.io
Rust isn't worth the disk space. (Not a rust expert, but 10+ years using C, C++, among others)

How much would you take from a small business to promote their stuff to your audience?

@aral
Moreso that "the people who are negatively impacted by it are being used as pawns in this culturally marxist game of mind control"

I guess then I don't understand how ipfs works... How does one make an ipfs-site (and doesn't it suffer from similar name problems as LBRY?). Also, won't this have performance problems for unpopular ipfs-sites? (Still requiring a dedicated server, but one with more resources to run the complex p2p software)

Mass adoption... like bittorrent levels of adoption?

I think the sole maintainer stepped back some months ago. youtube-dl (command line interface) is still actively developed tho.

From heaven God looks out on humans, to see if any are wise and care for God.
But all have turned bad, the taint is on all; not one does good, no, not one.

Anyone working on wayland support for `links -g` yet?

@EdwardTorvalds@mstdn.io
Has nobody told them about wikipedia?

Does anybody know what they're talking about?

Q: Why do [web developers] do [stupid] things?

A: Because [somebody less informed] pays them to do it.

something tells me this is also the case in other industries...

One of the reasons my current instance (social.librem.one) disabled DM-ing: mastodon doesn't support end-to-end encryption. (Librem.one's chat service uses matrix instead). A data breach would be worthless.

So, typing's not your thing?
What's your preferred interface?
Arrow keys? Capacitive touch screen? Mouse? Trackpad? Voice-commands?

I bet we can make a good client for you.
