Start by using free software. Instead of paying for software, post bounties on issues or support developers who will make it work to your interests.
Many 'long term support' distros exist which are meant to work fine for years without major upgrades.

At the proper time, switch to a linux distribution. Don't get stuck with unfixable proprietary software, but use (and possibly improve) something which can benefit others more.

The presumption of salvation in the state church was a huge problem, as 'heresy' resulted in the death penalty.
It is by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not by works, so that no one can boast.
Your family, your baptism, your nationality does not merit salvation, only by the grace of God can one be saved.
