@progo
What about [any of the non-google chromium-based ones]?
@alex
Glad to know it's not really about efficiency. There are many factors driving consumer food choice: deliciousness is a big one.
@alex
Every day, hundreds of thousands die, many of them perfectly healthy. Why don't we eat them first? The energy has already been converted.
@ZW748VSJSiwWMNBxyz
I like millimeters for 3d printing. Why do you bother converting into centimeters?
@Darcy02 @dave @coldacid
@dave
Who cares how many centimeters are in 3 meters?
SI units are only easy to convert using pen and paper-- and it's still easy to do an 'off-by-ten' error. The prevelance in usage of both centimeters and millimeters shows that people want to have their own unit for different tasks, even though the other is perfectly adequate.

"Ethical source" can be open source the same way that grain-fed pigs can be kosher.
In other words, you can't be both. "Ethical source" denies users liberty and expressly repudiates the open source principle of nondiscrimination (discriminating against those you consider discriminatory themselves is NOT non-discriminating). #opensource

All the chatterings have now ceased;
Untold words expired and released.
As darkness grows, a night star is born,
bidding you, 'sleep', 'till Sunday morn.
Does God love everyone, or just selected ones? – Forthright Magazine http://forthright.net/2020/02/24/god-loves/
> Most everyone is familiar with John 3.16. It has become a favorite verse of many. God loves the world! But this fine summary needs to be supplemented with the full gospel. A good place to start for this is another word from Jesus, also in the gospel of John.
This is why I'm skeptical of claims like, "Someday in the future we'll have a device in our brains so we can Google using our thoughts." I don't *want* software in my brain. Software in my brain means:
- they ship a patch that breaks my brain
- somebody hacks my brain
- they change the UI for my brain unexpectedly
- the server goes down so my brain stops working
Software for anything mission-critical scares the bejeezus out of me. (And that includes software in planes etc.)
Was going to post this here, but it ran over the word limit:

@zudn
I'm sure it does, but at least it's not installed on my phone.

When I'm in a bind needing to navigate somewhere, I'll use Google's [Plus codes website](https://plus.codes/map) to look up the location, then copy the plus code into OsmAnd. But yeah it's tricky: one time I ended up in some parking lot because it didn't have my friend's driveway. 'Streetcomplete' is a fun android OSM editing tool, but can't replace the standard editor.
@zudn
The simple apps are good, but I use Etar instead of simple calendar, and Amaze instead of files. Flite TTS, AnySoftKeyboard, K-9 Mail, EscapePod are some basic staples. (I assume you're using F-Droid). I also like 'budget with envelopes'.
Happy to meet you wherever you are on your journey (software or spiritual)
