Trying to help @tops get from Dresden to Brussels

Why is there no late regional train Aachen-Welkenraedt to connect with the last IC to Brussels?!? 😡😡

@jon @tops The connection from Aachen to Welkenraedt is quite sad. There is a bus by local operator ASEAG to Eupen, number 14. There you can join the Belgian rail network.

It would be faster to ask somebody in Aachen to drive your friend to Welkenraedt 🤷‍♂️

@OskarImKeller @tops The bus also isn’t coordinated with train arrival times.

@jon @tops Haha, coordination! With neighbouring countries/cities?! Are you kidding? That would necessitate that Aachen would see itself as part of a bigger system and not just a city that is still important because of emperor Charles (who died a couple of hundred years ago)...

/sarcasm off

@jon @tops I would wish for something I call , based on the German idea of a : A train system where each train / bus / etc. in Europe is to some extent coordinated, even beyond country borders. I would like to go from Hintertupfingen (a name of a nonexistent village in Germany, see here: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hintertu) to Xkøbing (a nonexistent village in Denmark, similar to Hintertupfingen in Germany) without going on a week-long oddysee.
