Trisquel is a beautiful, fully free distribution of GNU/Linux. We also have Parabola and many other free GNU/Linux distributions -- all which respect your rights. Check out our list at: gnu.org/distros/free-distros.h #GNU #Linux #freesoftware

@fsf trisquel is a distribution I can't even launch! What's the point of having a fully free OS if it can't launch due to video driver errors on a mainstream APU?
Are people with a 5600G not allowed to use free software?

@jacob @fsf Maybe you need some proprietary drivers to get your computer running. Does vanilla Debian work or do you need to install proprietary drivers?

@elshid @fsf I don't need anything except the stock Linux Kernel.
What's the point of promoting operating systems if they can't even run on this decade's hardware? The 5600G only requires the kernel built-im driver, no extra firmware.

My PC boots with only Free Software installed. Using Gentoo.

Maybe "free" distributions run on old hardware, that's no longer supported and has more security problems than Swiss cheese has holes.

@jacob @fsf There is dedicated , like the MNT reform or the Talos II Computers. There is also new hardware like the devices that can run Free Operating Systems.

By the way: The "plain" Linux Kernel is not entirely Free Software and has also some blobs. Completely free operating systems have the Kernel that got rid of these blobs.

But you are right, there is indeed very little hardware that can run entirely free software.

@elshid @fsf I know that there is "special" open source hardware, but that's not really am option tbh. Who is going to buy dedicated hardware when you have a fully functioning operating system?
The idea of FOSS is amazing and I wish that fully free systems were actually usable.

I'd love to see a world where Free software makes sense and is not just a philosophy. Maybe that will happen one day.

@jacob @fsf I recommend to read the Freedom Ladder campaign by the FSF. There, they write about that issue.
