"If you haven't heard of Russian sanctions yet, you should try to read
the news some day. And by "news", I don't mean Russian
state-sponsored spam." - Torvalds

How do you interpret these words?

@whitequark he did in fact confirm that it was sanction, and added he supported them not that is relevant. And even if Linus pushed for it, how's that Greg's problem?

@mcc @futurebird @elm considering that dog sized ants is pretty much what humans are I would say no, their is not enough energy bio chemically available for dog sized ants on our planet.

@anthropy nuclear power, even the Chernobyl kind, is some of the safest sources of power we have. Arguably large scale solar and wind is safer, but considering the need for storage I don't know.

I am way more concerned about the source of the material to build the data centre, lifetime of a computer is about five years while a nuclear power plant can last a century. Disposal of the toxic chemicals used in the production of computers present their own disposal dilemma.

@faab64 obviously anecdotal, but I live in Sweden and no-one I know expressly support The Israeli War on Palestinian.

@taatm autocorrect was always an language model. At least SwiftKey is fine tuned locally, and a lot of keyboards are re-skins of SwiftKey.

@halva I have a memory that the PlayStation controllers was the best supported, do you believe that's still the case?

@JoBlakely @jubiloMX I did watch Hannibal a long time ago, and my memory was that it wasn't that bad. I also remember some pretty decent show about some New York writer that ended up shadowing a police detective, can't recall the name though.

PSA for ASMR fans

@w7voa have you heard of Pascal's bargain?

@KneeNeart yeah, I assume that the first woman on the moon was incidental. It's pretty common to talk about missions based on what makes them unique or novel, and saying "the first black person on the moon" probably didn't sound as good.

Missions usual become known to the public based on what they are called in the media, so if they referred to it as "the first woman on the moon" they are stuck with it. At least if they want people to know what they are talking about.

@KneeNeart I don't get it, someone had to design it. If Prada gave the best bid that's fine.

Kindness is not "OMG dude, thank you so much for putting a link to a eugenics-pushing muppet's shitty opinions about autism in my replies! Let's discuss Nazi shit as if this is still a debate worth having! I have so much free time for reply guys! Yay!"

Sometimes kindness is "GTFO" and a block.

What the sealion does with that is his business; I will always side with neurodivergent people who aren't fascists.

@gsuberland I was imagining a less intrusive design. a white skeleton with magnet wire connecting everything up, with the controller logic mostly hidden away.

I love the project, even if it is a bit different from what I imagined.
