i didn’t want to chime in but yes when software fails it is the software’s fault.

oh no you say, software isn’t sentient. if it doesn’t have agency it cannot have culpability- well my frienr then it can’t be credited with anything good either

linux fanatics especially gotta pick a lane. if you wanna say it’s good and people should switch to it, you can’t be switching modes right to victim blaming the second it goes wrong. (and it do)

it’s gross and it says gross things about your attitude towards the rest of life

like i have been seeing some linux people say some seriously denigrating things about people who do not want to switch to linux

and if i didn’t know anything about linux i’d avoid it just so I wouldn’t have to deal with you creeps

I want an operating system with a community actually willing to help with problems instead of just calling me stupid. that is not normal will it apparently ever be linux.

2025 is not the year of the not shitty linux community

my biggest pet peeve is advocates insisting that linux has solved the problems of not working on some particular hardware: don’t worry about it they say.

That’s an old problem. it’s been years since there’s been any issue with that!

then they switch instantly to calling you an idiot for picking bad hardware when it doesn’t work.

@bri_seven mine is how fast "it is fixed in the latest release" switches to "I won't help you when you run an unstable release".

@ekg @bri_seven "just compile it from source!!", they'll say. "My grandma cannot do that", I'll say.
