it's almost incredible how bad linux support for ultrabook style laptops is

@halva I just bought a framework, which reportedly have good Linux support. I can report back how successful I am at installing Linux.

Are they considered ultrabooks?

@ekg kinda? but also it's a very expensive exception

trying to get off the shelf hardware will almost surely result in complete lack of fprint support, poor/no sound, non functional webcam, and quite possibly even the keyboard being dead lol

@halva @ekg Our Thonkpad's bettery life is pretty good, but then again, it's a Thinkpad...

I suspect not having a dedicated GPU helps a ton. Our old Mac was TERRIBLE for battery life.

@IceWolf @halva I had a Lenovo thinkpad with Linux installed, that I bought from ebay. It worked great, unfortunately it died to bad solider balls.
