There is a very good chance that Russia may block YouTube, in the US there is talk of blocking Ticktock, China blocks all kinds of internet services.
The internet is supposed to be global, an international collaborative network. Increasingly it grows fractured and ordinary people sign up for VPNs alongside their cable and water bills.
What if we had some diplomacy over these issues? Everyone keeps acting like the internet is "new" -- it's not. It's as old as I am and I'm an old lady.
@futurebird the internet was invented in 60s, but old is a relative term. The telegraph, a technology with much in common with the Internet, was invented in the 19th century. Standardised clocks require global instant communication technology, something we have had for long enough to define large part of our reality.
