A handful of billionaires now have unprecedented control over banking, the food we eat, the health care we can access and, now, the information we receive.

This is what oligarchy looks like.

"In Buffalo, with professional rescuers slow to arrive, and shelters often unreachable, residents improvised.A restaurant became a hotel, bunking stranded people atop the bar. Doctors and nurses interrupted Christmas celebrations to make house calls. A couple took in a busload of Korean tourists who cooked Christmas Eve dinner. A tow-truck driver helped deliver lifesaving medicine.

Blizzard Facebook groups popped up overnight, with stranded residents begging for help. More than one family sought out a midwife to coach a pregnant woman through labor. Christopher Pulinski put out a call for help reuniting with his 17-year-old son, stuck home alone in the neighborhood of Elmwood Village. A stranger with a snowmobile replied that he was on his way.

Leon Horace Miller, 52, of Buffalo, transformed his landscaping and snow plow company into a rescue operation. By late afternoon on Christmas Day he had dislodged 14 people from snow banks or moved them out of unheated homes that had lost power. “It’s been nonstop since Friday,” Mr. Miller said. “Everyone knows I have big trucks.”

Healthcare workers posted their locations and phone numbers online in hopes that those in need nearby would find them. At 2 a.m. on Sunday, Tamara Joy Rettino, an alternative medicine doctor, fielded a call from a mother whose asthmatic child was struggling to breathe.

Neighbors and local businesses donated supplies, an outpouring of support which made the mood, despite the storm, “ecstatic,” he said."

This video sums up the problem of racism, inequality, and policing in #Buffalo.

People are taking basic necessities like toilet paper and water. In the poorest neighborhood of the poorest mid-sized city in the USA. Many East Side residents can't afford to stock emergency supplies.

And while people freeze in their homes, police are busy spreading copaganda about looting instead of saving lives. The police officer's attitude is just...🤬

When one recognizes awareness, however, one should rest without thinking it is “empty” or “not empty.” That is the recognition of primordially pure, rootless, self-existing wakefulness— genuine suchness. When that happens, one spontaneously thinks, “Ah! Poor ones!” Just as water is wet and fire is hot, the natural expression of awareness is the flame-like heat of compassion. This awareness has unfabricated compassion as its nature...

Wondering why your Christmas roast was more expensive this year?

Maybe it had something to do with the fact that just 4 firms control 85% of the beef market.

Higher prices for you. More profits for them.

We must break up Big Ag.

Morning meditation — Descriptions are Merely Devices.

Groups like the Rose City Nationalists are using the model created by other white supremacist groups like Patriot Front - itself a rebrand of another group that marched in the neo-Nazi 'Unite the Right' rally - under a different name, in the hopes of distancing themselves from a group that has been heavily doxxed and is now facing criminal charges.

Thanks to the work of groups like @StumptownRC, @RoseCityAntifa and @CVAntifa we now have a better idea of who some of these Hitler saluting racists are.

Check out their series here and help expose active neo-Nazis in your area:

Tensions Explode in Greece Over Police Killings [Dec. 6, 2022 - Thessaloniki]

Greek police shot a Roma teenager (16y/o Kostas Fragoulis) on the eve of the annual commemoration of Alexis Grigoropoulos. Alexis was also #KilledByPolice in Greece back in 2008. In Thessaloniki, Greece's second largest city, over 10,000 participated in this year's Dec. 6 demo against the police. Fragoulis died from his wounds on Dec. 13. The unnamed officer has been charged with manslaughter.

"Democracy cannot thrive or survive without a media ecosystem willing to report verifiable truths about the core tenets of democracy — even if those truths currently favor one major political party over another."

From Atlanta Community Press Collective on recent destruction of Weelaunee People's Park in Atlanta by Ryan Millsap of Blackhall Studios, which is currently facing a lawsuit over the land:

"Photos from Weelaunee People's Park shows that the gazebo and paved path have been destroyed. Broken up concrete blocks the path into the woods. The Gazebo and Path are essential infrastructure for access to nature. The destruction was carried out by workers claiming to work for Ryan Millsap, operating unmarked work vehicles and heavy machines without any known police presence. The land this destruction occurred on is not part of the land parceled for the proposed Cop City, but is part of the contested land swap between DeKalb County and Blackhall Studios, and is part of the same Weelaunee Forest. At a previous attempt to destroy the gazebo by Millsap, when questioned about their actions by onlookers, the operator of one of the machines replied "Why don't you just buy your own forest?"'
