Let’s be clear: When we allow lawmakers to completely avoid accountability for attempting to overturn the results of a democratic election, we invite insurrection attempts to happen again. And not just in the United States.

The global anti-democracy movement has been encouraged by America’s failure to hold Trump accountable.

When you see someone like Elon Musk embracing the far right, it's not because the far right has any kind of coherent political or intellectual worldview he agrees with. It's because the far right is the last bastion of shitty people - they will accept anyone regardless of their personal behavior.

The far right have no standards for behavior, identity or beliefs - you only need to share the raw desire to dominate others. The far right welcomes all manner of abusers, thieves, grifters, and scoundrels.

Logically therefore if you're an abuser, thief, grifter or a scoundrel you will eventually find that the only friends you have left are far right extremists.

When the police try to fuck us over, time and again, anarchist+abolitionist folks do their best to make sure they don’t succeed, and the recent arrests of six people—all now facing “domestic terrorism” charges—in the Defend the Atlanta Forest / Weelaunee forest is no exception.

Instantly, in Atlanta and far beyond, without fanfare, and with as much security and sensitivity as possible, an infrastructure of love and solidarity for the defendants arose—jail and court support, lawyer and DIY legal counsel, phone zaps and letter-writing to support the arrestees before they were released, emotional care, fundraising for bond money so they could be released, and so much more. And while that anarchic infrastructure was built on do-it-ourselves knowledge gleaned and accumulated from other such moments, and is a beautiful thing to see and be a part of, much always gets lost between the latest instance of state repression.

Hence a critical part of the infrastructure of solidarity is, as Malatesta asserted decades ago, “educating ourselves for freedom.”

And hence this #WeekOfResilience!

As you’ll see, five groups and many people have come together to offer this week of community self-defense and anti-repression trainings—some of them online and much of it person in Atlanta. And they pulled this together while the courts and statist bureaucracy took the holidays off—just another inking of how damned much we anarchists and abolitionists strive hard to love, protect, and defend each other in these situations, 24/7, 365 days a year.

It’s short notice, though, so please circulate the infographic for the Week of Resilience, especially to folks in and near Atlanta right now.

Well-defended Orlando drag shows goes on after FL governor's legal threats-and a bomb threat

The Oct 28 drag show in Orlando went on in spite of an explicit threat by Florida's Christian Nationalist governor DeSantis to tale legal action against the venue if anyone under 18 was seen inside. This threat was called. As the press hype grew, a protective pro-LGBTQ crowd grew in front of the venue. Two groups of Christian nationalists ineffectually protested the show. A firetruck and ambulance showed up halfway through, it turns out some opponent of the show had called in a bomb threat. The delay was short and the show went on! Proud Boys in uniform were nowhere to be seen, same as in Miami the previous night.
