@Andrew I am unable to accept their reasons for banning anymore, they are too outlandish (racism, white nationalism, etc.). I have to believe some other motives are at work here. I think Gab is threatening someone's or some group's sense of power and control and legacy. This smells like an act of desperation.

I believe in redemption. Others have given me second chances. I've given others second chances. It is the human condition, the only way societies can survive. I hope the same could be extended to you in this matter.
@dansup I do not know you, but I think you've created something that is just beautiful. If you feel you need to leave your project, so be it. I am sad to see that. I hope your decision was a free one, not driven by mob pressure.
@dansup Nowadays when I hear people speak against "racists, bigots, and nazis", I know that often what they are really doing is promoting a particular political ideology. My hope is that pixelfed provide everyone a respite from the over politicization of life and not become a political weapon of a subset of people.
@dansup I think you want to produce something good and beautiful, so you need standards, and therefore need to deal with pornography, the obscene, human degradation, humiliation, foulness, etc. - and yes, also racially insulting images. Realistically though, I am guessing that racist photos will be among the least of your problems.
@dansup I do not say this in the spirit of arguing. Rather, we are all flawed. Singling out racism and bigotry is arbitrary. (I have seen some horrible and disturbing things and awful, hateful insults on the fediverse having nothing to do with racism or bigotry.) Singling out nazis is kind of pointless, there are hardly any left.
@dansup I don't know what you said. I am not interested in hearing those details. But consider: If "nazis, racists, and bigots" should not be part of the fediverse, how would you handle Andy Warhol were he still alive? Will Warhol's photographs be banned from pixelfed and the fediverse?
