Well I just nuked my Twitter. My New Years resolution was to delete Facebook... Unreal that Twitter became so irredeemable so fast. When my friends and I started looking for ways to share moments in our lives on the internet 25 years ago, I did not forsee that the leaders of such efforts would be so unethical that I'd be unable to use their products.
I do not like that site of birds
I do not like its awful words
I do not like what it became
I do not like its cult of shame
I do not like intrusive ads
I do not like the vapid fads
I do not like the clout it’s given
I do not like its algorithm
But I shall miss that weird bird town
I do not like it burning down
@seldo @chris_stevenson Ah, OK; thanks. May as well re-post this, then: (I think I saw this here in my mastodon feed)
Sure you’ve heard of Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig, but what about Jackie Mitchell? She’s the 17 yr old pitcher who struck them both out consecutively in 1931.
Babe Ruth was quoted saying women “will never make good” in baseball bc “they are too delicate.”
The next day, the NYTimes reported, “The prospect grows gloomier for misogynists.”
There’s far more to Jackie’s impressive baseball career https://www.mlb.com/amp/news/meet-jackie-mitchell-the-girl-who-struck-out-babe-ruth.html

@isaacs @jeremiahlee a pet peeve of mine is when people start a call with "good morning, good afternoon, good evening depending on your time zone..." meanwhile I start calls with "Hello!"
@lethain One big difference I've noticed living in Africa, Europe, and the United States, is that in the US, "chore dates" are missing.
In the US, when people hang out with friends, there has to be some event: dinner. Listening to music. Going somewhere. Friends don't come over while people do laundry. We don't go to our friend's house just to go grocery shopping with them, or get an oil change.
I do that kinda stuff with my friends, and it's great! Recommend. 👍🏿
I will watch you do dishes!
@jeremiahlee Maybe handshake agreement if you're indicating it is informal? Or you could just say agreement 🤣. Less is more.
This strip came out in 1995. I’m afraid of what Calvin’s dad would have to say about technology in 2022. 😬🫠 #CalvinandHobbes
@jeremiahlee Ilove the idea that you're having to essentially task rabbit out this archaic requirement
@heyjovo exactly why I discourage my husband from opening Instagram 😂🤣
