Dear @exodus community,

As your saw, seen now 5 days, submission of new applications on the platform is disabled.

In fact Google reject all our download APK download request.
We change the password of our accounts, we made several Google verification but nothing seems to work more than one hour.

We are looking for a solution or a workaround, but as you know we are all volunteers and our free time is not expandable to infinite. We need to take care of us, our family and friends.

Once more for the folks on the fediverse: speak up, make some noise, tell orgs/companies that you value your privacy and don’t want it violated. If their business model isn’t based on violating it (like Google/FB/etc.) and they’re intelligent (and understand a competitive advantage when they see one), they’ll respond positively and you’ll affect some positive change. It all adds up. Don’t stay quiet. Don’t resign yourselves to the shitty Silicon Valley status quo.

If someone asks you to explain the gap in your resume, just say "I can't answer that without violating an NDA."

It's a really cool way to tell them to fuck off. They don't have to know that the NDA was issued by you to you, and signed by you on behalf of you.

TIL that iphones regularly transmit the Mac addresses of devices attached to the same WiFi network to Apple. In addition to their geographical location of course.

So essentially you can be tracked across all locations where an iPhone is near you (and you haven't disabled your WiFi).

Wow.

A merge request was made for initial support for the #Fairphone4 just minutes after the device was announced, I think that is the quickest we got support for a device ever! And it's even (barebones) #mainline Linux!

Am I coding?

No, I’m looking for a place to rent in Ireland so we’re not homeless in November because dickhead landlord is selling the place to cash in on Covid prices.

How’s it going? Let’s just say this newspaper article came out today:

thejournal.ie/rental-stories-2

Went into half a dozen property agents in Cork today. There are almost no houses. It’s really bleak. Don’t even think of moving to Ireland unless you’re well off. (Of course the assholes who work at Facebook, Google, etc., are fine.)

If you’re wondering what authoritarian technology futures look like, here’s an example from North Cyprus. This is a message from The Information Technologies and Communication Authority telling me I can use my device (IMEI number sent in the clear in the text) for 90 days without registering it (something I first encountered in Turkey years ago). Also note, they took a copy of my passport while buying the prepaid SIM card (something they also do in Belgium).

The dystopian future is now.

we should absolutely not accept this kind of behaviour from hardware manufacturers. it's time to demand real ownership of our devices again.

To drive the point home - any Qualcomm phone could have implemented this hardware disablement on unlock since 2016, why do you think they didn't?

samsung disabling the cameras on their phones when you unlock the bootloader is a testament to just how far we've sunk. If you think you actually own the hardware in your pocket you should really think again.

When you write hashtags, remember to use CamelCase (where each word has a capital letter).

This makes it much easier for blind and partially-sighted people's screen reader apps to read the hashtag out loud, and makes your message much more accessible.

For example #DogsOfMastodon is easier for a screen reader to say out loud than #dogsofmastodon, as CamelCase makes it obvious where the words are.
