anyway, working with vexriscv makes me want to build a risc-v softcore. not because the task attracts me but because i want to stop looking at vexriscv's source code
One easy thing professional news video could do if they wanted to fight disinformation is putting an identifying code (doesn't have to be cryptographic or anything, even just date/time of initial broadcast would work) on screen at all times. This would let viewers look the code up with first party authoritative sources or archives to check that it's actually from the purported source, unaltered, not misrepresented as a different time/place/event, etc. So much of Facebook disinformation isn't even AI or video alterations, just reposting old news implying it's about something current.

The Buried Names Challenge
We know why some names get headlines while others are buried. When the media only provides the full stories and family interviews for certain victims, they are telling us whose lives and deaths matter. The reality of whose names are spoken and whose lives are humanized is a direct reflection of who is valued in our society.

Nope, even if you use ethically sourced steel for the blades of your brain blender, it's still a brain blender.
"The diagnosis Dr. N entered—possible pneumonia—provided justification, but it was not the reason she admitted him. She felt responsible for the patient’s future, so she made up a diagnosis to orchestrate an admission. Dr. N figured that immigration agents could not simply wait in the hallway. She hoped they would leave.
They did."

"Starting in late November and early December, we decided to go in on a hotel campaign. We built extensive infrastructure to identify where ICE was staying, then started showing up in the middle of the night and making noise outside.
"The logic is simple: if you make noise outside hotels, ICE agents won’t want to stay there, and hotels won’t want to house them. If enough hotels don’t want to house ICE, then they don’t have somewhere to stay. It’s both about actual logistics and also socializing the idea that ordinary people are running institutions that support ICE to operate.
"I’m excited to do this for hotels but also to have people understand the logic enough that they start thinking about it everywhere ICE interacts: rental car companies, restaurants. It’s been working really well with hotels in general, and Hilton in particular."
