I don't understand why companies are allowed to issue gift cards and store credit. It should be considered counterfeiting imo
@gardiner_bryant what are they counterfeiting, though? It’s not like they are creating new money. A gift card is more like a loan, with no interest and no due date, from the buyer to the company.

@IslandUsurper @gardiner_bryant A loan would imply you could turn the gift card back in for cash value. In simplest terms, a gift card is nothing more than pre-paying for an item you haven't decided to buy yet.
