@interru @sudo I don't think any technology is inherently evil. Technology is just w tool - and every tool can be used to help others, or hurt them. I just see a lot more hurt coming out of crypto than good. What I mostly see are scams, pump'n'dumps and pointless startups burning through investor money and gullible people's savings. Get-rich-quick-no-matter-the-cost mentality.
This makes it really hard for me to find anything actually useful and worthwhile in there.
@unfa I understand that you may not like Odysee as it is built around cryptocurrency. However, technically speaking, isn't Odysee a more 'mature' video sharing platform than PeerTube? I hope you can reconsider.
@sudo I can - maybe it's one of the few good uses of crypto? I am mirroring my videos to LBRY, and I've even covered it on my channel when it was not released yet :)
I think LBRY is focused on building a monetizable platform for creators - PeerTube is focusing on building a resilient, ecological platform to just share videos. I do my funding through Patten and Liberapay, and I think this works well. I am not sure I'd like to have my funding and distribution in one place...
We'll see!
@unfa I wasn't really talking about cryptocurrency. Besides, since you are already mirroring your videos to Odysee, I personally don't think it will make a huge difference if you host your livestreams there as well. It's a good alternative to doing livestreams on #YouTube. Several creators are already doing it. I know PeerTube was also planning on implementing livestreams. If they have already, it would be great if you could host it there at least. It's just my opinion. 🙂
@sudo Well, I am testing PeerTube streaming, but it's very bare bones so far and quite frustrating to use. Streaming on Odysee - didn't try it het.
@unfa You are a Level 5 creator on Odysee. You should be able to livestream. #ChrisTitusTech did a livestream over there, if you are interested. He kind of tests it out and even goes on to implement a chat overlay.
@sudo I am not a fan of crypto currencies and blockchain, and Odyssey / LBRY is built on that. That's why I prefer PeerTube. But you can find my videos on LBRY as well.
