There were two notable moderation incidents on mastodon.social and mastodon.online in the past 24 hours that I would like to address. In the first, a post was wrongfully removed due to a report claiming it contained a dogwhistle, and in the second, a person was wrongfully suspended due to a report claiming it's an impersonator. Both were undone and apologies issued.
@WhoLovesDean These two instances are blocked off for new registrations right now. This is precisely so that the team can keep up with moderation in light of the increased traffic over the last month.
Unless you have a very specific reason you want to be on a server hosted by Gargron, there's no reason not to settle down on another one! :)
@WhoLovesDean There are a few instances dedicated to shitposting - I've seen hellsite.site , jorts.horse , godforsaken.website , myasstodon.xyz , and smores.town brought up. Not into the scene myself though, so can't verify the quality of either, but at least they're all anti fascist, so that's cool.
In general, my guess is that Mastodon might be more suited for more normal interactions, but it'll be interesting to see how the scene develops.
@sab fair. I have several servers and the federated list. But lots of my communities are still coming over from Twitter so not many interest groups I've been able to find. Kinda need a shitpost one not gonna lie. A semi moderated reddit 4chan circa 2010 vibes idk. I yearn for the old days
