Cooking a nice mushroom risotto for #InternationalWomensDay ...just kidding. I cook all throughout the year. I have this crazy notion of being an equal partner in a relationship, independently of some random event branding some muppet came up with. 🙂
@fabsh I think maybe you misunderstood what the international women's day is about - it's a protest day for equal rights, not some commercial valentine's day 2.0.
Of course it's great that you're doing your share for equality in the relationship, but today is about shedding light on and fighting the systemic issues facing women worldwide – it's far from just some random event branding. It takes more than even Italian food to solve these problems.
That being said, hope the risotto was great!
@fabsh Sorry for not understanding your masterful work of sarcasm.
I agree that it is a fight that needs to be had constantly, and that shouting out loud once a year if far from sufficient. However, it's not really feasible for most of us to take the streets and protest every single day.
I'm European. Every single thing I like about the society I live in was brought about by protest movements, and March 8 and May 1 both played huge roles in making social change happen.
Protest days work.
@sab If they work, why have employee rights gotten worse and worse in Germany since the '80s? I mean, people are protesting every single 1st of May, aren't they?
And please don't answer. These are what we call rhetoric questions. They are designed to make you *think*, not answer.
This is not a discussion that's worth having. You can believe whatever you want. Just stop telling me about it.
